"Methadonia" is the name heroin junkies and former users give to the gray space between addiction and sobriety, when recovering users are put on methadone "maintenance" as they struggle to get clean--a transition that can take months, years, or even decades. Director Michel Negroponte's gritty, sharp documentary follows a diverse group of recovering addicts as they go through this process, getting high legally (and in some cases with a little boost from illegally obtained prescription drugs) with, often, no end in sight.
