Boogie Man is the surprising story of Lee Atwater, the blues-playing rogue whose rambunctious rise from the South to Chairman of the GOP made him a political rock star. Atwater mentored Karl Rove and George W. Bush and without him, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush might never have been elected. A hero to Republicans for his unrepentant vision of politics as war, Atwater is reviled by Democrats as the godfather of modern negative campaigning.
