THE HIDDEN WAR IN VIETNAMAs the U.S. and allied military forces fought to free the people of South Vietnam from the influence and actions of the communist North, another less publicized campaign was in full swing behind the battle lines. American Special Forces were hard at work providing the local people in small villages and towns with the training, education and help they needed to combat a fierce enemy. A NATION BUILDS UNDER FIREHosted by John Wayne, this program examines the South Vietnamese people’s attempt to rebuild, prosper and even modernize their country while bombs, death and the chaos of war enveloped them. With the expertise and support from American Special Forces they were given weapons training, medical care and the means to begin a social revolution.
